When Tracy asked me if I wanted to visit the Skirball Cultural Center to see its temporary exhibition entitled “Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds,” just like a fully vaccinated Vulcan, I immediately knew the logical answer. Even Tracy, not really a Trek fan who has endured viewing Star Trek: Wrath of Khan on too many occasions, found it “fascinating,” and didn’t have to apply the Vulcan Death Grip on me even once. It’s at the Skirball until February 20, 2022, and if you or a family member loves Star Trek, you will love this exhibition. No Klingons, Romulans or even The Borg could deter us from navigating this very cool exhibition. From sitting in Kirk’s chair, to witnessing numerous authentic artifacts from the various incarnations of Star Trek, to videos and photos from episodes and movies, to even “acting” in a scene from Star Trek, our 90-minute mission went by at warp speed. Time to go Star Trekkin' - I have been a Star Trek fan since the show’s inception in the 1960s, so when we heard there would be an exhibition at the Skirball Cultural Center entitled Star Trek: Exploring New Worlds, we boldly decided to go.
